ARTS ENRICHMENT - PROP. 49
KidsARTcademy is currently providing a Proposition 49 funded After School Education and Safety program (ASES) focusing on Arts Enrichment for students in the Oakland Unified School District. The program has been designed as a series of 1-1/2 hour sessions over a six week period. Up to 25 students may be enrolled with two instructors in the class to provide hands-on guidance.
The program is designed around the same curriculum as is used in our classroom program, but is adapted to a longer class time format and multiple grade levels. Each six week program may be selected individually in order to meet the needs of a particular site.
The curriculum series that are currently available include the following:
| Art around the World | Discovering Ancient Art | |
| Discovering the Great Masters | Discovering Modern Art | |
| The Art of Craft | The Art of Nature |
An example of the curriculum is the 6-week multi-cultural art program entitled "Art around the World". This curriculum allows students to use a variety of mediums to learn about, discuss and create art pieces influenced by various cultures. Typical projects in this program include the following 2D and 3D projects:
| African Woven Basket | Chinese Dragon Hats | |
| Indonesian Paper Batik | Korean Paper Fans | |
| Australian Aboriginal Masks | Mexican Maracas |
The Proposition 49 ASES schedule for the 2008-2009 school year will be available for reservations beginning in July.
